Be Your Own Beer Meister At Bottle and Wedge

Do you guys remember when I talked about the awesome retro consignment shop, Finds and Designs, located in Heritage Station between 3rd Ave and Veterans Memorial? (Click on the link and check out the blog if you don’t remember!) Anyway, the reason I’m bringing it up is because if you visit Finds and Designs at Heritage Station and then walk down the steps and right across the patio you’ll run into ANOTHER cool shop in Huntington, Bottle and Wedge.

I originally checked this place out while I was doing some Christmas shopping. Bottle & Wedge is store that is stocked full of a wide variety of wines, beers (over 200), and snack related items (cheeses, nuts, etc)…get it? Beer and cheese=Bottle and Wedge?

One of the unique things about Bottle & Wedge is that you can create your own four or six-pack! The owner of the store, Mr. Crabtree, was a great help to me when I was there. Although I had fun looking at all the different labels for about five minutes, I can honestly say that I had no idea what I was doing. All I did was tell him one type of beer (Blue Moon, etc) and he helped me create a personalized six-pack! I ended up getting three for Christmas, one for my mom, dad, and brother. (Another added bonus: legal Marshall students get 10% off!)

Merry Christmas! (My brother enjoyed his six-pack much more than this picture lets on)

The price was also not bad whatsoever. The average costs of the six-packs were about $8-9 bucks a pop (not too shabby!). Another cool and very distinctive aspect about Bottle & Wedge lies in its location.

Bottle & Wedge is housed in the original location of the old Huntington Bank (like 1880’s, old). This same bank was actually robbed by the notorious outlaw, Jesse James, and his posse back in the late 1800’s. I’m a huge history buff, so when I heard that I instantly fell in love with the place even more. When you take a second to think about it, there is so much history in that tiny little room-how neat is that?!

So next time you get the chance, or you have a free second, go check out Bottle and Wedge! It’s a small store, but it’s got a lot going on in there! Don’t like beer? The wine selection is also something worth checking out. Don’t like wine? They’ve got a great selection of cheeses and finger foods. Don’t like cheese? (Okay, okay, I’ll stop) Basically the point I’m trying to make is that out of all of the local shops in Huntington, Bottle & Wedge is definitely one that is worth checking out!

Have you been to Bottle & Wedge yet? What’s your favorite aspect?
